The Salt Laydown brine enters the Bonneville Salt Flats SW of the end of the access road. With this year being dry I have been able to follow the wetting front. The brine transfer started 1Feb18. First the pool formed South of the access road. Once it reached the end of the access road it has been spreading NE along the NE boundary of the flats, the white sharp edge of the feather. Yesterday it had progressed to just shy of the end of the Salduro loop (loop berm structure on the South approx 4000 acres). Strong North winds on Thursday pushed the brine up against the Salduro loop berm. Following the winds I observed the brine moving North at about 3 feet per minute back to the NE boundary. The topography is distinctly carrying the brine (saturated salt water) away from I-80 and towards Floating Island (just NE off of the photo).
