Bonneville 2016 PART II
Well, there is more to the story, first we were towed to Rock Springs, Wyoming.
The problem being no one in Rock Springs could work on the Transmission or even look at our van until next Thursday, after Bonneville.
We were in Rock Springs behind McDonald’s still stuck, so Steve called around and talked with Ben Powers at the Transmssions Man in Salt Lake City Utah.
Our Second tow of the day only 185 miles…
We were able to get a tow into Salt Lake City 185 miles from Rock Springs Wyoming.
Ben Powers, the owner of Transmission Man (Ben) in Salt Lake City, arranged our tow and was kind enough to stay open late, we were brought in about 11 o’clock that evening.
He took our van in for repair, and Steve and I got a room at the Days Inn in Salt Lake City.
During the day Ben was fixing our transmission in the van Steve and I were playing tourist and enjoying the sights of Salt Lake City.
We bought tickets on the light rail train and toured one end of town to the other.
We even found a place to help loan us the millions we needed to fix things up…(just kidding),
but by putting this on Facebook we alerted all the people in Bonneville we were close!
Sites of Salt Lake City…in the mountains!
Sitting in our favorite Greek Coffee house in Salt Lake City. Kafeneio Coffee
We did campout there a big part of the day. If you are there check it out, it is a great place.
Great Coffee, pastries, great service with a hip kind of atmosphere, and great sandwiches!
Tell the lady with the hat you know Steve and Terry!
Ben Parsons and Steve in Salt Lake City!
After a long leisurely day of sightseeing, Ben then gave us our repaired van that night around seven o’clock in the evening.
Then off we go to the Bonneville Salt Flats.
All is well except, the transmission lasted about 35 miles at the actual start of the Great Salt Lake Desert it gave up the ghost.
Brew and I, again dead on the side of the road, ( Imagine us in the DARK this time!)
Will the boys be left on the side of the road again? Will Ben Rescue us once again? Will the boys get to Bonneville…stay tuned!
