Trip to Bonneville

Well the adventure has begun…or is it began, never mind…as I write this we are approaching St. Louis Missouri. Not a bad start to our adventures first day. We left at 4:00 am this morning and will made it to Missouri in less than 12 hours, so we are motoring right along.
Thanks to Kim, Brew’s wife for great dinner last night and hospitality I got a good night sleep and Brew and I are both released to begin our adventure to Bonneville. Thanks to both our wives for putting up with us in general and letting us go and happy fun.
We both enjoy “touring” that is, making good time, but still having the time to enjoy the sites as we go along.
For example we stopped in Corbin KY, to visit the Cornel. Cornel Sanders that is.It seems his fist resteraunt was in Corbin Ky and we stopped to visit the orginial KFC store. It was not open so had to eat a Huddle House, sort of poor man’s Waffle House…Get thee to Waffle House, as Malcom Griffith says…Motoring down the road.
Stopped at a Carl’s Jr. for lunch, and for all of you that know the Clucth Family we just filmed…well you get that joke. I for those that don’t then come to the World
Brew, AKA Steve Garn and I are pretty good travel partners and as we have discovered “road Warriors of the highest degree…The Miles float by and get closer to Bonneville.
First day before sunset was over 1000 miles and as bous, we got to watch a sunset over the Kansas Paraire, not bad day at all….
As the night wore on we continued to drive. Steve would nap and I drove and I would nap as Steve drove and we decided we would stop when we both were tired…Well as road warriors we just kept on Driving along…The sun up and somewhere between Chenneye and Laramie a funny thing happened…a little light on the very end of transmissions lever was blinking a very pretty yellow color.
The transmission seems to be low on fluid and not shifting properly. Not a problem Steve added the fluids and off we go….well until we hit Rawlins Wyoming and there it started shift, poorly and then in Red Desert Wyoming it finally gave up the ghost and died. Some we sat at the side of Rassmunsen road like any other dead animal…Hey for fun Goole earth and see if you can find us… it is very pretty country here, off the north west is old volcano and the town of Red Desert, a clump of house and trailers in the middle of the BIG sky that is Wyoming.
Steve is on it and finding a solution, looks like we are getting towed to Rock Springs, the next big town and then a transmission shop in Salt lake is coming to tow us from there… I guess Steve and I will meet some new friends!
Will this be the end of the great adventure, will the boys get rescued?
…stay tuned for more!
